General FAQs
1. Will my child get spotted by Manchester United and become a Manchester United player?
The main focus on every Manchester United Soccer Schools course is that all children achieve success regardless of ability. Players will not be scouted on Manchester United Soccer Schools courses. However, we hope that everybody will leave the course knowing how to become a better player.
2. How can I get a trial with the Academy?
Manchester United has a scouting network to identify talented youngsters. Players need to make an impression for their local club/team. You cannot apply for a trial through Manchester United Soccer Schools.
3. Will my child’s performance on the pitch be improved?
It is our aim for every child to gain success at their individual level. Our coaching staff are specifically trained to pass on how Manchester United train their youngsters. Our specially designed coaching aids help improve the skill levels in all children. Coaching aids used will include: SAQ equipment, Passing Gates, Dribbling Mannequins, Soccer Tennis Courts, Free Kick Walls and Soccer Waves.
4. What are the chances of meeting a player?
It is unlikely that the players will be able to attend soccer camps because of their busy training and match schedule. However we always endeavour to get as much exposure to the first team and the club as possible.
5. My child is attending on his/her own, will he/she be ok?
Yes, the majority of players attend without friends and family. Individuals will be placed in groups with players of the same age who are also on their own. The first session of every course is focused on making new friends. These “ice-breaker” sessions are designed to help all individual players integrate to form a team.
6. What qualifications and checks do your staff have?
All our staff are UEFA/FA qualified and have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and AIM as well as high security checks. Manchester United Soccer Schools is committed to the safety and welfare of all children attending our courses and has a Child Protection Policy in place. On all our courses there is a minimum of 2 qualified first-aiders. The Club also has a Child Safety Officer who is in direct contact with Manchester United Soccer Schools.
7. Can I book over the telephone?
The quickest and best way to book a course is online. If this is not possible please call, 0161 868 8585 and we will post you an application form.
8. Where can I find more information on child protection?
Millions of children have access to the internet. It is now central to how they stay in touch with their friends and family. However the internet is also a public place and while bringing many benefits and opportunities, also opens up new risks and challenges. That’s why MUSS has teamed up with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.

Residential FAQs
1. Where is the residential camp based?
The Residential football camps are based at Denstone College, Staffordshire. Set in 100 acres of beautiful countryside, Denstone boasts 7 full size grass pitches, floodlit all-weather surfaces, large indoor sports hall, swimming pool, tennis courts and golf course.
2. Are meals provided?
Meals are provided on the Residential courses. Three cooked meals per day, with a choice of menu catering for all dietary needs.
3. What does full accommodation include?
Rooms vary from twins to dormitories with up to 8 beds. Accommodation includes; 3 meals a day, bedding and full use of site facilities.
4. What do I need to bring?
Players need to bring: football kit for five days, shin guards, swimming kit, trainers and boots, casual clothes for evening, towels and toiletries (Please put your child’s name on all of their belongings). You get 10% off certain items at United Direct once you have booked a course. There will be a link to this offer in your course confirmation email.
5. How much pocket money will they need whilst on the Residential course?
The only money needed would be for the trip to the Megastore at Old Trafford. If your child is coming for more than one week and is staying over the weekend, they might want money to take on the trip to Alton Towers. All money has to be kept in the Manchester United Soccer Schools bank and may be withdrawn 5.30pm-6.30pm.
6. Can I watch my child during the Residential?
The safety and wellbeing of all children on our kids football coaching courses is of paramount importance to us. We therefore restrict visitor access to Wednesday morning only from 10am-11.30am. This will allow the children to settle into the Residential lifestyle and maintain their safety and security.
7. Can I stay on site with my child?
There is no accommodation for parents on site. Adults wishing to stay at nearby hotels can print a off a local hotel list.
8. Are there specific Goalkeeping courses?
Yes, we run a Goalkeeping programme at Denstone College. This is a 6 day residential football course.
9. Will players from overseas be able to improve on their English while attending the course?
Yes players will, however we also run courses where players can specifically learn English language as well. Our football summer camps are very popular with kids from overseas.

10. What type of visa do I require?
Players aged 8-18 who require a visa to access the UK need to produce their course confirmation details at their Local British Embassy and apply for a child visitor category visa.
11. What happens if I don’t get a visa in time?
It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that they leave enough time for the visa application process. No refunds will be issued on the grounds of any individuals not being able to obtain a visa.
12. Do I need insurance?
We recommend that you do take out insurance to cover personal belongings, illness and injury. No refunds will be issued if illness or injury prevents individuals from participation or cuts short their stay on the course.

14. Will I be in the same room as my friend?
Accommodation will be in dormitories of varying sizes, with toilets and showers being shared. Bed linen will be provided. The rooms will be allocated on arrival. Should you wish to share with a friend or relative please inform us on arrival. Please note that we cannot guarantee all requests of this nature, and these requests should not be made in advance of your course.
Player Development FAQs
1. Are meals provided?
No. You will have to bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinks with you.
2. What items do players need to bring?
A packed lunch, drinks, waterproof clothing, footwear (boots and trainers), football kit, warm clothing and shin guards. You get 10% off certain items at United Direct once you have booked a course. There will be a link to this offer in your course confirmation email.
3. What time should I arrive on the first day?
Please arrive at 9.15am prompt to allow time for registration.
4. What time does the course finish on the last day?
A presentation will take place on the final day at 3.30pm. Parents are welcome to attend and then take their children from the venue once this is finished.

Manchester United Soccer Schools is committed to the safety and welfare of all children attending our courses and has a Child Protection Policy in place.
