Introducing… Scott Moffatt

Introducing… Scott Moffatt

Academy defender Scott Moffatt talks about his strengths and how he aims to improve his game…

Name:
Scott Moffatt
Born:
Openshaw
Age:
17
Position:
Right-back
Strengths:
I’m good defensively, so I’m quite strong and good in the tackle, but I also like to get forward when I can.
Ways I can improve:
Left foot! I could probably work on that. It’s not too bad, but it could be better.
A player at United I admire:
Gary Neville. I play in the same position as him and he’s been the best right-back for the last ten years. I look at the way he plays but also the way he is off the pitch. He’s dedicated and that’s what has got him to the top, so that’s something I’ve tried to learn from.
Life at United:
It’s a bit mad having been a United fan all my life to be around the players you’ve watched play from the stands. And when you see the facilities we’ve got here, you can’t ask for any more to improve as a footballer.
I first got spotted:
I was playing for my local team St. Vincent’s when I was 12. There was a United scout that had been watching me for a few weeks. I was a bit nervous because I knew they were there to see me play. Then they came up to me after the game and told me they wanted me to go for a trial. Obviously my answer was ‘yes’ and I haven’t looked back since.
In five years I will be:
Hopefully playing for United, if not then at least in the Premier League.
