Staff Training

Africa Staff Training

With Manchester United Soccer Schools coaches based in South Africa from March 2008 to November 2008 this was a fantastic opportunity for the Club’s renowned principles and coaching methods to be extended into South Africa. During this time coaches from the UK were able to deliver a variety of programs including after-school skills development courses, community sessions within schools and township areas as well as coach education to local coaches. Our coaches were also on hand to assist with some coach education activity as part of the Manchester United Premier Cup’s regional finals.

Review of Courses

South African Team

Manchester United Soccer Schools together with our partner, Forlife delivered the first course to South African players in March 2008. Since March we have coaches over 250 young South Africans. We are currently nearing the end of our 10 week winter program in South Africa. To date we have delivered an initial 8 week technical training program and a series of 5 day player development courses during the school holidays. We have been delighted with how the courses have been received by both players and parents alike. Watch here for exciting new developments in South Africa in 2009.

First Team Tour

As part of the first team tour to South Africa in July 2008, MUSS delivered sessions to 320 boys and girls from three different township areas of Kwathema, Tembisi and Boksburg sponsored by Ekhuruleni and also on behalf of Gauteng province. Sessions related to the Manchester United Soccer Schools coaching philosophy and placed an emphasis on the importance of following the Manchester United Soccer Schools code of conduct.
