During the summers of 2007 and 2008 Manchester United Soccer Schools sent a team of coaches to Zurich in Switzerland to conduct coaching programs for over 150 enthusiastic youngsters. They were encouraged to ‘Play the United Way’ in a fun and positive environment. Man Utd loves to encourage skill and flair on the football pitch and the players in Switzerland certainly took this philosophy on board. In 2008 the coaching team led by Mike Neary were extremely impressed with the attitude of all who attended the course “It’s great to see young players be so receptive to different ideas. We encouraged them to never be afraid to try new skills and to understand when they achieved success. This doesn’t necessarily mean scoring a goal or winning a game but when they accomplish a skill or trick in a game or training. Or even meeting new friends on the course and creating a ‘team’ together. This is the message Manchester United Soccer Schools want to deliver, everywhere.” AIG the principle sponsor of Manchester United with the support of Nike, helped make this course available to young players in Switzerland.
