Ex-Red David Beckham says his return to Old Trafford for the first time as an opposition player on Wednesday will be an emotional occasion.
The former United midfielder is in town with AC Milan for the Champions League last 16 second leg tie, and he can't wait to run out on his former home turf once again.
"It was always my dream to play for Manchester United and I never thought I would play against them with a different shirt," he said ahead of the match.
"Now I will be returning as a Milan player and it will be very emotional for me. But if I play, I won't be freaked out, I will be very excited because Old Trafford is a ground where I played for many years and I know what it's like to be a Manchester United player.
"I will always be a supporter of Manchester United and this will be the first time in my life I want them to lose."
Beckham should get a warm reception from the Old Trafford crowd that once adored him during his United playing days between 1992 and 2003.
Old pal Paul Scholes expects a positive response from Reds supporters, but says that once the first whistle goes there will be no favours for old friends.
"I'm sure he'll get a good reception," said Scholes. "United fans still love him for what he did for this club and he will get a fantastic ovation. After that, though, we want to put him out. That is the plan."
