Dimitar Berbatov enjoys making goals as much as he does scoring them, the United striker has revealed.

Some no.9s have a selfish streak in front of goal, but the Bulgarian's inspiration is the art of creation.

Berbatov set-up Wayne Rooney's second goal in the 3-0 win over Fulham on Sunday - his strike partner's 32nd goal of the season - and then scored the the third a minute from the final whistle.

"I'm pleased," he said. "It's part of my job, to assist and to score, but if we win it doesn't matter if I score, as long as we are champions in the end. I preferred the second goal I gave to Wayne than scoring the third goal myself."

Berbatov scored his 10th goal of the season with his headed effort against the Cottagers at Old Trafford.

The 29-year-old, like everyone else, remains in awe of Rooney's goalscoring exploits this season.

Wayne has now scored 32 goals in 38 games and Berbatov believes on current form that his strike partner is the best player in the world.

"I think Wayne can go over 40 goals," he said. "We have plenty of games till the season is over so I wish him luck and we're all going to help him to go over the 40 line.

"I think at the moment he is the best (in the world). He is still so young so he has chances to become even greater. Like I've told him many times, just stay healthy and he can achieve everything."

Berba happy to assist
