United's Under-18s produced a fantastic display to crush Burnley 5-1 in the FA Youth Cup fourth round at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

The Reds struck five well-taken goals to completely overrun the hosts, who went down to 10 men in the second period and were limited to a late consolation goal after being completely outplayed.

Italian midfielder and United captain Davide Petrucci opened the scoring after 22 minutes. It was a fine passing move that led to Petrucci pouncing on the edge of the box to steer a low, sidefooted finish through a crowd of bodies just inside the post.

Joshua King then struck six minutes later. Larnell Cole did well to keep the ball in play and teed-up King on the corner of the area. The Norwegian teenager's curling finish was simply magnificent.

It was little surprise that a dominant United made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark. Winger Nicky Ajose picked out an excellent pass to Will Keane, who lobbed the ball home first time.

United's fourth goal arrived five minutes after half-time. King won possession, beat his marker for pace, cut inside another defender and smashed in his shot.

The hosts were dealt a further setback when Thomas Anderson was handed a second yellow card for illegally halting Keane's run on goal.

Burnley did grab a goal back on 84 minutes when Joe McKee scrambled home an untidy goal after the Reds had failed to clear, but United had the final say in an emphatic win four minutes later. Paul Pogba nicked possession and found substitute John Cofie, on for the injured King, and his neat flick found Keane, who drilled in his shot to complete the rout.

United: Devlin; Massacci (Fornasier 75), Wootton, McGinty, Ajose; Cole, Tunnicliffe, Pogba, King (Cofie 63); Petrucci (Lingard 68); W Keane.
Subs not used: Johnstone, Hussain.
