Sir Alex Ferguson says match-winner Ji-sung Park and Man of the Match Darren Fletcher were the key men in United's 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
Korean midfielder Park got the goal that won the game on the hour mark, after Wayne Rooney had equalised Fernando Torres' opener.
Fletcher provided the pinpoint cross for Park's brilliant diving header, and the Scot dominated the midfield battle.
”Ji-sung was fantastic,” said Sir Alex. “He’s one of these players that we can give him roles to play and he does it because of his control and discipline."
Park normally operates on either flank for United, but against Liverpool he was used as a central midfielder, as he was against Milan ten days ago.
"We found another role for Ji-sung against Liverpool, which was slightly different to the one he played against Milan, but nonetheless he did a really important job for us. He’s such a brave little lad that his courage got him the goal.”
Fletcher covered every blade of grass at Old Trafford and was a vital figure in securing three points that keeps United top of the league and edging closer to a 19th league title, whuch would see the Reds overtake Liverpool as English football's most successful team.
“Darren's work-rate is brilliant, and his natural energy is important,” added the boss. “He’s got such a light frame, but he covers every inch of ground and does a really important job for us. It’s interesting that we’ve lost the last three games to Liverpool and Darren has missed all of them, twice with flu once with injury."
