Darren Fletcher is in Form and Enjoying Playing Regular Football

The Scottish midfielder was limited to just 11 starts for the Reds last season, but he has already started eight games this season.

He’s scored twice from midfield and put in some outstanding performances in hte heart of United’s engine room.

“It’s great to be playing more often,” he said. “We have a lot of great midfielders and last season games were hard to come by. I got a few injuries at the wrong time, but the form of Scholesy, Michael Carrick and Ando was such that it was hard to get into the midfield.

“There have been a few disruptions and injuries elsewhere in the midfield this season and I’ve managed to start a number of games. Once you get a run in the side you really start to enjoy yourself and your game improves because of that.”

Fletcher recently put pen to paper on a new three-year contract — a fitting reward for his recent displays.

“It’s a great honour when you sign a new contract here,” he added. “It’s a fantastic club, the best in the world.

“We’re Premier League champions and European champions and here you are always looking to retain those titles. There’s no place I’d rather be as long as I’m appreciated by the manager.”
