The Reds broke Chelsea's Premier League record of 10 league matches without conceding a goal during the win over West Brom on Tuesday.

Edwin van der Sar kept the Baggies at bay to ensure the Reds overtook Chelsea's mark.

The last goal United conceded was against Arsenal on November 8, when Samir Nasri netted in a 2-1 win for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.

Since then, the Reds have embarked on a run of nine wins and two draws to go two points clear at the top of the table.

It's an even greater achievement when you consider United's first-choice defence has been disrupted by injuries to Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville, although Jonny Evans, Rafael and John O'Shea have all filled in admirably.

Sir Alex Ferguson said after the 5-0 win at The Hawthorns: "It’s a fantastic achievement for the defence and it’s all down to the experience they’re gathering together as a back four.

"We’ve had to make changes in the last few weeks but they’ve still applied themselves very well."
