United and Le Havre have reached an agreement over the transfer of promising young French midfielder Paul Pogba.

The 17-year-old France youth international joined the Reds in 2009 and impressed in his debut season at the club.

He shone in the Under-18s and progressed to Reserve level in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Warren Joyce's side.

United said in a statement: "Le Havre and Manchester United are pleased to announce that, following discussions between the two clubs, an agreement has been reached in relation to the registration of Paul Pogba with Manchester United in July 2009. The terms of the agreement will remain confidential."

The statement added: "Paul is an exciting young talent who we hope can prove to be a great success at Old Trafford. Le Havre would like to wish the player well in his future career."
