Sir Alex's men clinched the Community Shield with a stylish 3-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.

Second-half substitute Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez scored United's second goal with a comical finish that deflected off his face. But there was no good fortune needed for Antonio Valencia's opening goal, or Dimitar Berbatov's clincher late on.

Valencia opened the scoring just before half time. Paul Scholes' 50-yard pass picked out Wayne Rooney's run, and the Reds no.10 found Valencia's run inside with a brilliant cross through John Terry's legs. It was all the invitation Valencia needed to smash the ball past Chelsea keeper Hilario.

Valencia turned provider in the second half when, with around 15 minutes remaining, his cross picked out Chicharito inside the box. The Mexican aim his shot goalwards, stumbled, and the ball ricocheted off his face before finding the net.

Chelsea pulled a goal back through Salomon Kalou, but Berbatov restored United's two-goal advantage with a brilliant lob over Hilario after an 18-pass, keep-ball move from United.
