Wayne Rooney says United will not give up in the pursuit to win a fourth league title this season.

The Reds slipped five points behind league leaders Chelsea with defeat to Carlo Ancelotti's side at Stamford Bridge last time out in the Premier League.

But Rooney says that has only made United more determined to make it a record fourth title in a row.

And he will be trying to set United on a long winning run when the Reds return to action against his former club Everton on Saturday 21 November at Old Trafford.

"We are trying to win the league, which is important to me," he said. "If anything, after losing at Chelsea, we have to try even harder now to pull the gap back."

Rooney puts absolutely everything into his performances for United, but he insists he's never considered holding back or trying to save his energy during games - and it's in his nature never to want a rest.

"I am sure there will be games when I will have the chance to be rested," he said. "I'd prefer to play but if the manager decides to rest me, it is his decision."
