Ross, 8, from Malvern, Worcestershire, enjoyed himself so much at one of Soccer Schools' goalkeeper coaching courses last summer that he decided to blog about it...
In the summer holidays I went to the Manchester United Soccer Schools goalkeeper course at Denstone College in Derbyshire and I had a great time.
The course was for 6 days and while I was there I met lots of people from all around the world like Italy, Japan and Mexico. In my room there were people from England, Belgium, Dubai, Saudi and it was great to meet loads of new people who all shared a love of playing football.
We started training at 9am in the morning, had another session in the afternoon and our final session ended at 9pm at night. In the sessions we did football drills like handling, goal-kicks and quick feet and we also learnt how to do the cup, scoop, W and the diamond. We also played football tennis and did some rowing. My favourite things were the diving and the rowing.
On the last day we went to Manchester United’s museum at Old Trafford which was very interesting. I saw some of the trophy’s and went into players lounge and saw the player’s football tops in the home changing room. I also saw the Eternal flame which is to commemorate the players that died in the Munich plane crash. Outside Old Trafford is a statue of George Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton, three very famous players, two of which were also in the winning England world cup team of 1966 ( Denis Law and Bobby Charlton).
We had our presentation in the “Theatre of Dreams” and walked around it. They then brought the Champions League Cup and the FA cup for us to see. (see photo).
Everyone at my football club noticed the improvements I had made, and I had such a good week that I have asked my mum if I can go back again this summer.
