Stockport-born striker Will Keane is fine form at the moment, and he continued his goalscoring by firing two goals and setting up the other to help United's Under-18s defeat Liverpool.

Reds winger Nicky Ajose got the other goal for a United side that was missing several key players - but despite that the young Reds still confidently defeated our arch-rivals.

The opening goal came after 16 minutes and was Keane at his most skilful. Ajose crossed from the left and Keane's first touch was excellent. He then created space for himself in the area before curling the ball into the far corner of the net.

Keane then had a header cleared off the line, while his Italian team-mate, midfielder Davide Petrucci, also went close with a shot from 20 yards.

United goalkeeper Conor Devlin twice did well before half time to keep out Liverpool's Thomas Ince (the son of former player for both club's Paul), and then after the break the Reds grabbed a second goal.

This time Keane turned provider for Ajose, a simple pass setting Nicky on his way and he didn't mess about with his finish - lashing his left-footed shot into the top corner to make it 2-0.

United wrapped up all three points fifteen minutes from the end when Keane punished Liverpool's defence for not clearing the ball quickly enough by stealing possession and firing his shot through the legs of a defender and into the bottom corner of the net.

Liverpool pulled a goal back late on, but even that couldn't deny United the joy of getting one over on our rivals from Merseyside.
