Sir Alex Ferguson says he doesn’t expect to make any more signings before the end of the current transfer window.
United have signed winger David De Gea, forward Ashley Young and defender Phil Jones so far this summer, but speaking in New York City ahead of the Reds’ pre-season friendly against the MLS All-Stars the boss suggested those would be the only in-coming players.
“At this moment in time I can’t see any other additions,” said Sir Alex. “The type of players we may have been looking for are not available to us. So therefore I have to be happy with the players I have and carry on.”
United are currently on pre season tour in the United States and have registered three wins out of three to date, beating New England Revolution 4-1, Seattle Sounders 7-0 and Chicago Fire 3-1.
Young, Jones and De Gea have all featured on tour and the Reds boss admitted he expects to start the 2011/12 campaign with the same squad currently at his disposal.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a number of central midfielders this summer, including Wesley Sneijder and Samir Nasri. Both players appear willing to leave their current clubs (Internazionale and Arsenal, respectively) although Sir Alex’s latest comments indicate Old Trafford is an unlikely destination.
