After exceeding everybody's wildest expectations in his first year at Old Trafford, Chris Smalling is set on staying a Red for life.
The hulking defender has gone from non-league unknown to England international in the space of three years, and the 21-year-old is determined to prolong his stay at the highest level for as long as possible.
"I don’t look too far ahead but I hope I can really get an established career and hopefully stay here for the rest of my life," he said.
"I want to get more and more games as it goes on because I really feel part of this club. I’m really enjoying my football at the minute. The manager’s got full faith in me and I want to reward that in the years to come."
But, while Smalling's breathtaking start to life at United has sent expectations sky-rocketing, he admits he still has room to improve - and he's determined to do so.
"It’s about kicking on when you get chances, like I managed to last year," he said. "I’m starting to feel like I really belong here and, the more games I get, the better player I’ll be."
