Manchester United Soccer Schools – like the first team – have a truly global appeal. Over the past 12 months some 4,000 youngsters from 80 plus countries were coached the United way, on various types of courses in locations all across the world.

Key among the types of course available to budding young footballers are the football specific Residential courses, held at two venues: Denstone College in Staffordshire and Myerscough College in Lancashire. Over 1,300 boys and girls aged 8-18 years experienced what it is like to live, train and play like an elite United youth player. They were given expert coaching, had their performances analysed and got to mix with and make friends from all over the world.

Many other youngsters enjoyed a residential course with a difference, combining expert coaching with language classes. Three venues – Myerscough, Christ’s Hospital in Horsham and Bradfield College in Reading – welcomed students from over 50 nations.

The highest numbers, though, were for the two-day non residential course that visited 33 locations across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Over 2,000 young footballers, boys and girls, learned tricks, skills and techniques as performed by United’s first team stars.

The feedback from those taking part was fantastic with 70.3% of young players describing their Soccer Schools program as ’excellent’ and 26.6% ‘good’. It was the specific comments from participants that was most pleasing, however.

“Denstone College is brilliant and all the staff are so professional. I has so much fun,” said Arie Miodownik (12) from Venezuela.

“I met so many new friends, I was the only South African boy in my group,” said Pinto (8) from South Africa.  “But it didn’t matter; we all got on so well and were singing Manchester United songs all week.”

There were even regulars who were enjoying their annual visit to Soccer Schools, like Ben (16) from the UK: “I have met great people over the years I have come and I always arrange with my friends to book on the same week. Even though this is my 6th year with muss the standard of coaching is very good and the sessions are always varied.”

The past 12 months have been another fantastic year for Manchester United Soccer Schools, 2012 promises to be even better!
